UCC students win first prize in international electronics competition
Three talented Electrical and Electronic Engineering students have scooped first prize in the prestigious international MAXIM/ElektorAI Design Contest.
Congratulations to Dominic Lightbody, Duc-Minh Ngo (both PhD students), and Cathal Kelly, (third-year undergraduate student) who took home the top prize of 鈧�2,000 for their entry 'Anomaly Detection System for IoT Using the MAX78000'.
They were joined on the podium by two teams from prestigious Universities in China (Beijing) who came second and Switzerland (Zurich) who came third. The UCC students are supervised/mentored by Dr Emanuel Popovici, Dr Colin Murphy and Professor Andriy Temko.
The entries were reviewed by a team of experts and shortlisted before being handed over to the head of the jury, Professor Terence O'Donnell, 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Dublin for the final judgement.
Professor O'Donnell commented:
鈥淭his innovative project implements several solutions to the very topical issue of IOT cyber security. The approaches are based on anomaly detection at the network level and anomaly detection in the power consumption signature. The project demonstrates a high degree of technical complexity with a very complete set of results.鈥�
