Mary McCarthy-Buckley retires from UCC

Congratulations to Mary McCarthy-Buckley who after 30 years has retired as Manager of UCC's Food Industry Training Unit (FITU).
The Food Industry Training Unit which Mary has managed since its inception in 1993 is a dynamic food industry education and training 鈥榟ub鈥� and is part of the internationally renowned School of Food and Nutritional Sciences in UCC.
The Unit which is unique in the Irish higher education sector develops and delivers innovative, market-led and research-informed training courses for artisan food businesses, SMEs and large multinational companies.
Mary, who is a UCC Dairy Science graduate, together with the FITU management and academic team, have educated thousands of industry personnel over the past 30 years and this is a reflection of the excellent track record of UCC working closely with the food industry dating back to the 1920s.
We thank Mary for her dedicated service to the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science and wish her well in her retirement.
