The School of Chemistry at 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork (UCC) recently hosted a mini-symposium titled 鈥淢achine Learning, Computation and Chemistry鈥, marking a significant milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence into chemical research and education.

Led by Professor Gerard McGlacken, the event featured talks from Dr Davide Tiana, Dr Stig Hellebust, Dr Marco Dalla (Insight Centre), and special guest Professor Olaf Wiest from the 深夜亚洲福利久久 of Notre Dame, who also serves as Director of the US Centre for Computer Assisted Synthesis. The symposium attracted a diverse audience from academia, industry, and Research Ireland, reflecting the growing interest in computational approaches to chemistry.

Central to the discussions was InTeleCat, a collaborative project spearheaded by Professor Gerard McGlacken. The initiative brings together leading academics including Professor Olaf Wiest, Professor Abigail Doyle (UCLA), and UCC PhD student Sofiya Evenko, supported through a prestigious Naughton Fellowship.

InTeleCat is also supported by pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly, with Dr Scott Frank, Associate Vice-President, noting:

鈥淭his is a very exciting project which will leverage our HPT facility in Indianapolis鈥 this is the future of drug development.鈥

The symposium highlighted the transformative potential of machine learning in chemical synthesis and drug discovery, setting the stage for future innovations at UCC and beyond.
