F脥OR '25: Bridging Early-Career Research and Industry at Croke Park
Over 150 early-career researchers and 50 industry representatives from 23+ leading organisations gathered at Croke Park for F脥OR '25 鈥� Fostering Industry Outreach & Research Collaboration on 12 February.
The event provided a dynamic platform for researchers to showcase their work, network with industry leaders, and explore professional skills essential for career growth both in academia and industry.
Organised through a collaboration between ADVANCE CRT at 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork (UCC), with d-real, CONNECT, and ADAPT 鈥� all funded by Research Ireland, the event united experts from over 10 Irish universities for key discussions.
Event Highlights:
Industry Exhibition 鈥� Over 150 early career researchers (PhDs and Post-Docs) connected with industry professionals representing 23 organisations, from multinationals to civil society organisations, including civil society organisations and SMEs, discussing research, employability skills, and future career opportunities.
Research Showcase 鈥� Industry leaders explored cutting-edge projects from the four organising research centres. ADVANCE CRT researchers presented innovations in satellite services, connected health, and AI in healthcare. Dr Ita Ryan (UCC), a programme graduate and post-doctoral researcher, led a thought-provoking session on the cybersecurity challenges facing society today.
Keynote Speech 鈥� Dr Cormac Driver shared his journey from a PhD at Trinity College Dublin to launching a Y Combinator startup, leading to a successful acquisition and a high-impact engineering career afterwards. He emphasised how PhD skills were instrumental in his success.
F脥OR '25 reinforced Ireland鈥檚 role as a hub for research-industry collaboration, showcasing the immense potential of early-career researchers in shaping future innovations in this shared space
ADVANCE is a Centre for Research Training based in the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, UCC, funded by Research Ireland, with 127 PhDs across 5 universities, 30 of which are based in 深夜亚洲福利久久 College Cork. Prof Dirk Pesch is the Director of the Centre, with Prof Cormac Sreenan acting as co-lead for UCC.
