IrlCPC2025 Showcases Ireland’s Top Programming Talent
On 1 March, the ACM Irish Collegiate Programming Competition (IrlCPC2025) was held at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork, setting a new participation record with 180 students. Co-organised by the Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, it remains Ireland's largest and most prestigious programming competition.
Participants and Tracks Students from across Ireland and the UK competed in two tracks: a Senior Track for third-level students and a Junior Track for secondary school students. The Junior Track is of special significance as it forms the final stage of the selection process for Team Ireland at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI).
The selected participants will travel to Bonn, Germany for EGOI 2025 and to Sucre, Bolivia for IOI 2025.
The event was organised by the UCC ACM Student Chapter, led by Nicola Rossberg and David Shanahan, with support from Dr. Andrea Visentin and Dr. Chrys Ngwa.
For the third consecutive year, Cadence served as the Prime Sponsor, alongside Insight SFI Research Centre for Data Analytics, Keelvar, NetApp, CRT AI, and F5 NGINX. These partners not only provided financial support but also actively engaged with participants throughout the day, offering invaluable career insights and networking opportunities.
Impact IrlCPC2025 highlights Ireland's programming talent and strengthens ties between the tech industry and future innovators. The event's success underscores UCC and Insight's leadership in nurturing programming excellence.
