Maeve Cusack Named 2025 Dairy Technology Student of the Year
ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork (UCC) Food Science graduate Maeve Cusack has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Dairy Technology Student of the Year Award, jointly sponsored by the Society of Dairy Technology (SDT) and the International Cheese and Dairy Awards (ICDA).
This award celebrates exceptional student contributions to the dairy industry.
Maeve recently completed her MSc in Food Science, specialising in Dairy Process Technology, at UCC’s School of Food and Nutritional Sciences. Her research project and thesis focused on protein standardisation in milk powder systems using milk ultrafiltration permeate. The research was supervised by Professor Seamus O’Mahony and Professor Alan Kelly at UCC, together with Ger Behan of Kerry Dairy Ireland.
At the award ceremony held in the UK, judges and SDT Executive Director Marian Pusey commended Maeve’s work for its technical depth, logical approach, and clear demonstration of return on investment within the dairy sector.
Commenting on Maeve’s success, Pat Murphy, Chief Executive of Kerry Dairy Ireland, said that ‘’this award is a testament to the value of our partnership with ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork and our shared commitment to developing the next generation of dairy professionals’’.
