Introduction
UCC has a rich culture of non-academic activities, organised and managed by over 100 student societies, 50 student clubs, and a vibrant Students鈥� Union.
Event Plans and Risk Assessments - Student Activity
Each UCC Club, Society, and the Students鈥� Union completes an Annual Safety Statement and an Annual Risk Assessment (ARA) at the beginning of the first semester.
The Safety Statement specifies how health and safety is managed. The Annual Risk Assessments identify hazards, assess risks, and outline controls to reduce risks associated with regular routine activities.
A Specific Risk Assessment (SRA) is required for events, trips, or any non-routine activities that may involve additional risks.
Hazard and Incident Reporting
A hazard is a potential source of harm or adverse health effect on a person or persons.
The purpose of hazard reporting is to try to stop accidents before they occur. Students should be aware of their surroundings to prevent injury if possible. By reporting an uncontrolled hazard in advance of any accident or injury occurring you are helping to ensure the safety of yourself, your club/society/SU members, and potentially the wider UCC community.
All incidents, near misses, or dangerous occurrences must be reported online, regardless of the severity of injury or property damage. The reporting tool includes a drop-down menu in the Incident Classification section to select the type of incident.
