The Pregnancy Loss Research Group and Institute for Social Science in the 21st Century (ISS21) co-hosted a seminar on ‘Perinatal loss: Challenging the norms in the Czech context’ on 17 June. , an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at in the Czech Republic, delivered the seminar while on an Erasmus exchange with academics at ISS21.

Dr Tamara Escañuela Sánchez and Ruadh Kelly-Harrington presented at the 20^th Annual Psychology, Health and Medicine Conference, held at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork on Friday 31 May.

Caroline Joyce presented her work on the use of the Abbott i-STAT®1 Point of Care device for hCG monitoring in early pregnancy at the 12^th  meeting in Stockholm on 24 May.  

Congratulations to Dr Laura Linehan who successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “Infertility and recurrent miscarriage: An examination of pregnancy outcomes, services and patient experience” on Thursday, 30 May.

Congratulations to Samantha Ingham and Felicia Deonarine who passed their final year medicine exams with flying colours. Both Samantha and Felicia undertook their final year projects with the Pregnancy Loss Research Group.

New national clinical guidelines on the diagnosis and management of ectopic pregnancy, and reduced fetal movements, were launched at the National Women and Infants Health Programme (NWIHP) National Midwifery Conference on 02 May 2024.

Congratulations to Caroline Joyce who successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “Evaluation of biomarkers for the diagnosis, management and follow-up of women with gestational trophoblastic disease” on Friday, 19 April.

On Wednesday 17 April, a showcase marking National Health and Social Care Professionals (HSCP) Day 2024, was held at Cork ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Hospital (CUH). Susan Dineen, Specialist Medical Scientist in Perinatal Pathology at Cork ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Hospital (CUH) and PLRG member, spoke about the development of a novel perinatal specialist medical scientist programme, on behalf of the perinatal pathology team.
