Seven colleagues from the Access UCC team recently visited Erasmus ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Rotterdam (EUR) on an Erasmus+ staff exchange visit. The group was hosted by EUR's IDEA Center, with a packed programme focusing on exchange of good practices in widening participation.

Deirdre Parker, Careers Advisor at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork, hosted the UNIC Careers Staff Week on employability in the curriculum at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork, 26-28 May. Deirdre reflects on the experience and learnings of the staff week.

Dr JB McCarthy, Vice Dean Internationalisation & External Engagement at Cork ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Business School, represented ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork at a recent meeting of faculties of economics and social sciences from across the alliance of universities, 4-6 June 2025.

Dr Birce Demiryontar, Project Coordinator of UNIC, and Scientific Coordinator of Migration Research Center at Koç ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Istanbul, visited ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork on a staff exchange visit, 9-11 June 2025.

Dr Breffní Lennon, Research Fellow at the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) and School of Engineering and Architecture, is a winner of the UNIC Best Paper Award for his paper on sustainability and citizen energy communities, co-written with Dr Niall Dunphy, Senior Research Fellow in the School of Engineering and Architecture/ERI.

Prof. Owen McIntyre is co-awardee of the UNIC Best CityLab Award for the sustainability law CityLab initiative entitled ‘Perspectives on Sustainability’, hosted at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork in June 2024. The win is shared with the co-organisers of the initiative, Dr Alberto Quintavalla and Renée Knoop of Erasmus ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã Rotterdam (EUR).

Alex Sheehan, former UNIC student rep at ÉîÒ¹ÑÇÖÞ¸£Àû¾Ã¾Ã College Cork (UCC) and graduate of UCC's School of Law, is National Winner for Ireland of the European Charlemagne Youth Prize (ECYP) 2025.
