| Run the PhET simulation once again but this time vary the tension in the string by moving the tension slider. Set the damping to zero and observe qualitatively how the speed of a wave or pulse is affected by the tension. To see quantitatively how the wave speed depends on the tension, you could select the Rulers and Timer (check both boxes) and actually measure the speed of a pulse moving along the string. |
