The effect described in this section is nicely illustrated by the Walter Fendt simulation on the , demonstrating the force on a current carrying conductor when placed in the magnetic field of a horseshoe magnet.

Note that while the above simulation calls the force involved the 'Lorentz force', in Understanding Physics the term 'Lorentz force' is reserved for the force on a moving charge in an electromagnetic field (Section 19.7).
