To gain some experience with the material in this section, any electric circuit construction package that provides an a.c. power supply may be used; for example, the PhET . First set up the simple circuit comprising just an a.c. power supply connected across a resistance (Figure 17.6 in Understanding Physics). Connect a voltage chart across the terminals of the power supply and connect a current chart at any point in the circuit. Satisfy yourself that the current is in phase with the voltage.
